Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about OutBeyond’s adventure-based learning camps, designed to foster life skills, teamwork, and a spirit of adventure in a safe, supportive environment.

General Questions

OutBeyond is a platform for school students, youth, and the young-at-heart to foster the spirit of adventure, understand the power of nature, and instill essential life skills for today’s world. We guide participants out of their comfort zones to rise to their full potential.
In the Marathwada region alone, over the past 7 years (including three years of no activity due to Covid-19), OutBeyond has provided adventure-based learning experiences to over 2,600 participants at locations like Wadgaon Dam near Nagpur, Melghat, and The Great Himalayan National Park. Participants, mostly students from reputed institutions, have given us repeat camps, such as our seventh camp with Woodridge High.
OutBeyond was founded by Udayan Kayande, a retired chief executive from the manufacturing industry with a passion for nature, environmental conservation, and adventure-based experiential learning. He is supported by a team of experienced, trained, and enthusiastic young adventurers and instructors who guide participants to their highest potential.
The camp is designed to offer students a mix of outdoor activities that foster teamwork, self-confidence, courage, independence, and personal development. It provides a safe environment to challenge themselves, build new life skills, and instill a spirit of adventure through experiential learning.
Participants will engage in activities such as forest navigation, camping, rock climbing, team-building exercises, wilderness survival skills, and nature exploration. The campsite offers over 30 activities, with 10 selected for this camp.

Safety Questions

Safety is our top priority. We have trained instructors, first aid facilities, and strict safety protocols for all activities. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained.
We have trained medical staff on-site and a fully equipped first aid kit. In case of serious medical emergencies, the nearest hospital is located within a 30-minute drive from the camp.

Logistics Questions

The camp’s duration is typically 3 days and 4 nights, with 2 nights spent traveling.
Participants will depart from the school on Wednesday, 20th November 2024, in the evening and return on Sunday, 24th November 2024. Departure and return times will be communicated in advance.
We provide transportation to and from the camp location via air-conditioned sleeper or reclining seater luxury buses. Pick-up and drop-off will occur at designated city points, with details provided closer to the camp dates. In rare cases, if the specified transportation is unavailable, OutBeyond reserves the right to use the best alternative means possible.
Accommodation is separate for girls and boys, supervised by an OutBeyond instructor of the same gender. It is basic, safe, clean, and comfortable, primarily in tents, with separate dormitories available. Final accommodation decisions are made a few days before the camp based on various factors.
We provide nutritious, balanced vegetarian meals, including breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner, served buffet-style. Special dietary requirements, like Jain food, can be accommodated with prior notice. Participants with medical restrictions or allergies must inform the school staff accompanying the students. We encourage participants to follow the principle of “Take What You Eat and Eat What You Take.”
A complete list of items to bring is included in the welcome kit provided to participants.

Rules and Guidelines

Yes, mobile phones, cameras, electronic equipment, valuables, jewelry, cash, processed/packaged food, intoxicants, inflammable materials, and sharp dangerous objects are prohibited. OutBeyond reserves the right to inspect luggage and confiscate any undesirable items, and is not responsible for personal belongings, including confiscated items. This rule is critical for participant safety.
Discipline is vital for safety. Upon arrival, participants are introduced to a notice board detailing camp rules, which are explained thoroughly. Rules cover respect, civic behavior, safety, active participation, punctuality, prohibited items, cleanliness, and emergency procedures. Non-compliance may result in consequences at OutBeyond’s discretion, including expulsion in extreme cases, requiring parents to pick up the participant at their own cost.
Encourage your child to be open-minded and adventurous, and reassure them about the support available from camp staff. Adhere to our suggestions, especially regarding prohibited items, to set a positive example.
Updates will be provided via school staff responsible for designated groups. Parents can contact these staff during specified time frames. WhatsApp groups will be formed for updates and photos. Contact outside designated times is discouraged to avoid disrupting activities, except in emergencies.
Contact the teacher in charge of your child’s group immediately. If unavailable, call Udayan Dada directly at +91-98606 20984, available 24/7 for emergencies only.

Payment Questions

No, there is no additional expenditure. Cash is prohibited at the camp.
Payment must be made in full before the final payment date, preferably in cash due to the remote camp location requiring cash payments to vendors. Alternatively, payments can be made by cheque in favor of “OUTBEYOND” (one word). If a cheque is dishonored, an additional Rs. 350 per cheque is required. OutBeyond’s registered office and bank are in Pune, so processing dishonored cheques may take time.
The refund policy is as follows: Up to 30th September, Rs. 10,200; from 1st to 19th October, 50% (Rs. 5,350); from 20th October to 5th November, 25% (Rs. 2,700); from 6th November onwards, no refund.
